Last week was a challenge. I spent a lot of time waiting to hear from my doctor at OHSU and his clinical trial team. Communication with them has been horrible and I finally decided that alone was reason to not do it. I can't imagine being 5+ hours away on a trial drug and not being able to reach them.
I let my oncologist know on Thursday and she agreed. That meant a fast shuffle to get labwork done and my insurance to approve the next chemo to start the next day. This, in between other appointments, including a visit to the dermatologist for a biopsy on my arm. Surprisingly it all worked out!
On Friday I started Eribulin. Treatment was quick and easy but I went home and crashed. It's not often I take naps since I would rather get my sleep at night. My body has been aching since chemo, especially my back and legs, but that was all until Sunday evening. I had chills and my legs hurt so bad. Charlie went to massage my legs and commented on how warm I was. I took my temp and sure even I was running a fever. I had no doubt it was chemo related but my instructions are to head to the ER with a fever of 100.4° or higher. Mine was 101.6 when I got to ER.
I'm here now (in the ER) and they're pumping me full of fluids and antibiotics. They ran a bunch of tests, including covid, and everything came back fairly normal. Covid test was negative. Thank God!
Please pray that this new chemo is working. My poor body is exhausted.
